The events at Antoniuskirche are carried out in cooperation with Volkskundemuseum am Paulustor.

CAFÉ WITCH : a week of live music, art and knowledge sharing, happening in and around Café Wolf on the themes of magic, folk tales, European history and future gazing. Join us as we bring together a group of local and international artists sharing their visions and creations, while inviting the local audience to actively participate, dialogue and dream - all with the aim of remembering, questioning and reimagining histories of pre-industrial Europe - as we together create our ways into the future.

CAFÉ WITCH programme:

siXren aka Agnes Momirski is an interdisciplinary artist, performer and musician based in Rotterdam and Ljubljana. Her work and research explores the human condition in the coming era of posthumanity, by drawing from philosophical, anthropological, metaphysical and astrological knowledge.

Her work departs from a deeply embodied performance practice rooted in voice and language, seeking the links between nature, the posthuman, embodiment, rhythm, inner work and healing, creating multimedia visual, music and sound collaborations across disciplines.

For Café Witch, Agnes is preparing a unique performative lecture on femme futurism.

Agnes Momirski aka siXren

Emma Grace is a musician, vocalist and violin player. Following years of involvement in various artistic projects, music bands and busking while living in Paris and Venice, Emma continues to develop her own unique and experimental approach to playing, composing and performing her solo music. At present, she is based on homeground in the mountains of Umbria, Italy, where - aside from pursuing various music projects and artistic collaborations - she also hosts artist residencies. She has a masters in music therapy and offers her workshop sessions across Italy.

Her music is a river of spontaneity, a dance between joy and sorrow, and a sense of timeless belonging to nature’s flow. Her sounds will awaken any dormant heart, call you out into the woods at night, and invite you on a journey far beyond the limits of current conditions.

Vida Vojić is a performance artist, music artist and writer from Gothenburg, Sweden.

Her current work focuses on drumming as a means of amplifying input, triggering physical vibration and awakening alternate states. This accompanies her vocal, scenographic and poetic expressions that draw upon her research into comparative theology, marginalized histories, alternative conceptions of time and the nature of change.

As one of two Café Witch hostesses, you will see Vida's face throughout the week, leading activities, sharing poetry and jamming with you all.

Notorious Noise Brigade

Reni Hofmüller (electronics, bass, anything) and Eva Ursprung (electronics, sax, bass) have been meeting consistently for 13 years (or longer) for joint noise performances. From Graz to Gdansk they have exclusively focused on freely improvised music. With the piece "Tanzmusik für Daphnia magna" (Dance Music for Daphnia magna) in 2020 they for the first time staged a composed commissioned work for a virtual space. Back in reality, the duo now returns to its improvisational roots and dances in ever new experimental arrangements between spontaneously generated walls of sound to fluid spaces of possibility.

DJ workshop, try to mix and play on turntables and CDJs, bring your vinyls, mp3s and CDs to play witch music and other beloved tunes. The workshops hosts Lilly Jagl and Kathi Wiesler are part of the Grrrls DJ Crew, the DJ collective of the Grrrls Kulturverein. After the workshop: DJ night / party with Grrrls Kulturverein.
GRRRLS KULTURVEREIN, since 2010 the Grrrls Kulturverein promotes women* as artists, musicians, instrumentalists and DJs. All event formats and activities serve to make female*, queer-feminist, emancipatory music and art visible and aim at gender equality. The GRRRLS DJ CREW was founded in 2017 due to the underrepresentation of female* DJs in the (Graz) scene and sees itself as an active contribution to living gender equality. The genre mix of the crew is danceable and eclectic: sweat and tears mix in the hip-swinging performances of the Grrrls.

Anja Monden
aka Herzkasperl

Anja Monden aka Herzkasperl locates herself in the nomadic circus folk punk or folk with all rough edges.

The performances of Herzkasperl often become artistic mini-shows that touch both young and old, because this transdisciplinary artist is just as well known for surprises as for her clever humor. A warm and varied voice speaks and sings about the difficulties of contradiction in this world, by skilfully weaving together poetry and social criticism. She accompanies her own compositions with the accordion and the guitar. With courage and passion, she does not shy away from stepping out of line, and thus invites the audience to do the same.

Hanna Magdalena Gödl

Hanna Magdalena Gödl has been focusing her artistic work around music - from traditional Austrian folk music to classical music to pop/rock and experimental - while curiously engaging with a variety of different art forms with the deeply rooted strive to not be bound to and having to decide on one category. Through her lifelong passion for dance, exploring the body as a vessel for artistic expression is at the core of any creative endeavour.

As one of two Café Witch hostesses, you will see Hanna's face throughout the week, leading activities, sharing poetry and jamming with you all.
